I like mine, use it on my Leica CL quite often.
How ever, it does have little bit limited close focus distance, often I find it hard to get close enough for what I'd like to shoot.

Sharp enough by plenty (but with manual focus, it's a little hit an miss anyway)

The 40F1.4 SC is a star on the Sony A7

Apparently 40mm is a good focal length for shooting wildlife:

I slowly stalked this Heron, keeping the R3A up to my eye and kept taking pictures every few steps. I didn't know when I would scare it and it would fly off. I managed to get right to the edge of the water and it didn't seem to care too much. Then, unfortunately, I had to head back to the car and get back to work as my lunch-time was over. It sure is nice to be able to spend lunch around the lake with occasional good subject matter to break up the day filled with staring at a computer screen while being surrounded by beige cubicle walls all day long.
