I would rather have my 2.8 Elmar and no distortion. 35 Red scale has no distortion either.

The Elmar-M 50mm f2.8 is a fine lens too, but I can't mount it on my screwmount Leicas. The Color Skopar is handier, more compact, has screwmount and it came in black paint on brass too. There is indeed some distortion, but very, very minor.

My wife and I went to Maine for a long weekend recently. I took the Skopar 50/2.5, and used it as a 50 on the M2 and a 100 on the Oly Pen E-PL1. Here are a couple of sample photos:

Proving yet again that patience and persistence will always pay off, about an hour ago I finally ran into a black 50/2.5. I already have the chrome one, but wanted the black so badly. After 2 years of waiting, I bagged one! Nice price, too; just 21,000 yen! So cheap.

Blimey. Guess what boys?

So tonight I pop into Fujiya again (it's just a couple of stops from me). And guess what? After waiting for about a couple of years for a black 50/2.5 and finally buying one the other day, tonight I found another one! That's two in a row in quick succession.

Amazing.
