I often read about Nikon RF users and their experiences with the wider Voigtlander lenses but I cant ever recall anyone saying that own and use the 85mm. Are there any users out there? How do you find it? Is it really 85mm or just a 90 relabelled?
I remember reading here at RFF that the focal length was more like 87-88mm and was essentially the same lens as the LTM 90/3.5. Can't remember for the life of me where I read it though.
I know that RFF member bobkonos has one and loves it.

Although it may be a great lens, I can't cheat on my 85/2 Nikkor. That would be like cheating on Jennifer Aniston.

I have an CV 85 3.5 in S mount which I have used on my Bessa R2S and my NIkon S3 2000. It is a wonderful lens in every way. Great build quality, glass is tack sharp and not too heavy. For me it was a god send in that it was available in S mount and was brand new!

I agree with Ray. A great, sharp lens.

The 85f3.5 Apo Lanthar is my "fair weather" lens for Nikon Rf's. It is light enough that it can slip into a pocket, but very sharp! It is a true apochromatic lens and a bargain to boot. I have both the 90f3.5 in LTM mount and the SC 85f3.5. Admittedly. I do prefer the 105f2.5, but sometimes you dont want to haul something that size around. The Nikkor 85f2 is a great lens, but again, it is big and heavy.
The slower speed limits the use a bit, but that is offset by portability. I think they are still available as end of procution runs, so the trick is to pick one up now, while the prices are decent and before it becomes a collectible (as I suspect a lot of the S-mount CV lenses will become in the end). Just look at all the people who hesitated about the Nikon F to SC adapter and wants one now - and have to pay twice what is was new on E-bay!

That's right: it is with me whenever I take out my R2S or S2 cameras, including my recent trip to Vancouver for the NHS Convention. It is light and tack sharp. It is a lifetime member of my "Slow Lens Movement" ensemble and I have never wished for a faster 85 when using it (although I do have a Nikkor RF 85 f2).

I have the 85/3.5 and use it on my SP and Canon 7s with Nikon S to Leica adapter. I also use it with my M8 and my other Nikon S to Leica adapter, utilizing the 75mm frames. (Alex Shishin has an interesting article in the latest "Viewfinder" called 'M8: 75 = 85?' which you ought to have a look at.) The 85/3.5 also works really well with the 75mm frames on my R3A. All around it is a darn good lens!
