Voigtlander announcing two new 35mm f/2 lenses

Voigtlander only needs one decent quality M-mount body that works with the most used focal lengths. Make something better than the Bessa R3A or whatever, make it bulletproof or close enough. Bright and clear viewfinder, smooth recock and quiet shutter, and only have one model to minimize costs. Pretty sure this would sell, especially if it's made to the same kind of quality as their new lenses.

Basically re-introducing the R2A/M models would solve this. I have no problem with the build quality of my Bessa cameras.

How many of you can keep up with the new lenses that are coming to the market and sell your old gear and buy new? I can't. My CV 1.2/35 and Zeiss 2/35 are nice and I've stopped wondering if the new ones will give me better or nicer pictures.

Cheers, OtL

I stopped selling lenses many years ago. I have added a few lenses when I felt that I wanted to use such lenses.

For many years I only tried out one 50mm lens after another. I was content with my 35mm lens that I first bought with my first RF camera that was bought for use and not for resale then. So in recent years I got the Zeiss ZM 35/2 and the Made in China 35/2 Summicron replica.

Then came along the CV APO 50/2 and I could not resist. It is special.

Wish they'd develop some wider lenses. The M-mount world really doesn't need more 35mm lenses. Some small 24mm to 28mm 2.8 lenses that aren't MS Optic or Leica would be amazing.

I love the small Canon 28/3.5. It would be cool to get a tiny but modern CV 28/2.8 ltm or M.

The thing is so big it knocks you out of bed!

More to love.

The CV 3,5/28 is my smallest lens and fantastic on the M9M & BW film; wonderful tonality. If they gave it an M mount, tweaked it for color and digital, it would sell out in a flash.

Just wish they had a longer rangefinder base. Maybe Zeiss pulled the plug on the ZM too early too.
Ya, the EBL may be limiting for some folks. I don't shoot particularly long or fast lenses. Even on my R4A focusing a 50/1.5 is fine.

I've been tempted by the CV 28/3.5 a few times...but its hardly any faster than my much loved CV 25/4. A 2.8 or faster option in a similar form factor would be awesome.

A tiny CV 28/2.8 M with modern coatings and close to APO sharpness would be a great addition to the CV line.

That'd be perfect!

i dont see why they release two modern 35/2 in same time... i hope manufacturers will stop making those "perfect" lenses and come back to something balanced and compact. i dont care about sharpness - tiny and no distortion 35 even if soft is what i would like to see...

You mean like the Voigtlander 35/f2 Ultron? Tiny, balanced, buggerall distortion, and sharp...

I would buy a 28/1.4 - now, no questions asked, no reviews perused.

Personally prefer the super-fast 28 over the equivalent 35. But it would be big. The 28 Summilux has a 49mm thread and blocks almost 1/3 of the RF window. If the CV 50 APO is any gauge, a highly-corrected ASPH CV 1,4/28 would be 58-62 mm and block nearly 1/2 the VF.

If Cosina is going keep making the same focal lengths over and over again I would appreciate something slow and tiny. For film I want fast lenses but for digital when iso isn’t a limitation I would prefer something smaller because finder blockage is a real minus for me, and for the type of shots where bokeh is not a factor I would like what essentially are MS-Optics lenses but are not built like toys. And bring on a modern and tiny 28/2.8 or 28/3.5!
