Voigtlander Aspherical II 15mm f/4.5 for M8.2

I'd appreciate any advice regarding the Voightlander Super wide 12mm and 15mm lenses for use on my recently-purchased Leica M8.2.Online user reviews for both lenses appear to be more positive than negative, as either will be used in a daily working photojournalistic environment,thank you.

I have the 15mm Heliar on my M8. For a tourist, it is perfect in daylight to take landscape shots specially in the city where everything is close to one another.

Lines are straight and distortion are not noticeable. At least to my eyes.

Subject is the LTM version. OP less than happy with his copy. Fwiw, my VC 15 II (M-mount) is very nice on my M8. If used with an IR cut filter, Cornerfix was necessary under certain conditions. Most of the time outdoors I didn't use an IR filter anyway. Great colors, center sharp, corners fairly sharp, little distortion. A really small, lightweight ultra-wide, not too expensive either.

I am wandering about the Zeiss 18mm.
Like the small size and low price of the CV 15 but I can't find any images taken with this lens that appeal to me.

Just got mine, together with the 21mm finder. Lovely little lens! Haven't gotten around to shooting much, yet. Never owned such a wide lens, so I'm not sure yet how to use it. But time will tell ...

I coded it as WATE. The M8 will ask me if I use 16, 18 or 21mm upon switching on. The 16mm setting will get rid of any cyan cast from the UV/IR filter. Nice!

I happen to have both the WATE and the Voigtländer Super Wide Heliar Aspherical 15 mm 3,5 - and the M8 - and the M9 right now. Due to the manual lens compensation set on M9 the Voigtländer becomes 'quite a lens' on the M9. I have the non rangefinder coupled version and found it far inferior to the WATE on my M8. Nor had I any IR/UV filter for it, while I had the full filter set for the WATE. - Even without the filters the WATE was far better, Particularly corner sharpness. The WATE draws nicer, finds more details in the shaddows and reproduces glass and silverwear almost 3-dimensional, while the tiny Voigländer puts a fog on everything.

But this the increased resolution and the possibility of manually set the lens compensation, the Voigtländer Super Wide becomes far better on the M9....

i've got mixed feelings about this lens (15mm verII), sometimes i really like it, other times i just don't for some reason. maybe i'm not a wide-angle-guy, but i'm keeping my lens in any case
