I need help identifying this Voigtlander camera.
Got it at a yard sale yesterday.
I cleaned it up a bit and everything seems to be working: aperture, shutter, focus slides on rails, bellows look good (no holes), optics are ok.
I have a few questions:
1. What model is it?
2. When was it made? Serial No. on lens is 303911
3. What is the approximate value?
4. What size film does it use?
5. Is there anything I could do (or should I ?) to improve the look of the leather?

Appears to be a Voigtländer Rollfilm, made between 1927 and 1932. Could be one of several film types - you'll have to measure the spool if it has one, or the space and film gate if it doesn't. See here for a few examples: http://voigtlander.pagesperso-orange.fr/anglais/rollfilmtousA.htm

The leather can be redyed. Some use shoe polish, but it often ends up too shiny. I'd probably just treat it with a good leather treatment and leave it alone.

Nice camera Blumoon, i'll try with my poor english to answer your questions...

1. and 2. There is a family of Voigtländer cameras preceding the Bessa. They don't to have a precise name. They are simply called “Rollfilm”. They existed between 1927 and 1931. They have as common points the fact of being folding cameras.

3. This type of camera is quite common, approximate value is not very high, perhaps 20$ ?

4. The focal length is 9cm, so I think it's a 6x9 format, it use a 120 format which is still avalable

5. A little shoe polish...

Look at this, it's the same camera

Enjoy your camera with a little maintenance it just take beautiful photos

1927-31. The "Rollfilmkamera".

The successors were the very similar, but auto-extending Bessa (a pun on "besser", German for better) and the (short lived) more up-market INOS (whose features migrated into the later, higher priced versions of the Bessa). The Rollfilmkamera and the first two plain Bessa versions are the most common pre war folders on German flea markets - where nice ones tend to sell for a tenner. 20€ outside Germany or on ebay, but hardly more, even less so in this condition...
