I am a convert to Voigtlander. After shooting with Leica for so many years, the newer Voigtlander lenses are simply on a different level. They are game changers.
I even started a gallery just for voigtlander at voigtlanderimages.com

But, the 50 F1 and 28 Apo are my favorites so far. Well, so is the 90 F2.

I always reach out to cameraquest to buy my voigtlander glass. best support and quick shipping!

I agree with you on this one. I love using the Ultron 40/2 on my Pentax MZ-S, even though it is a manual focus lens. And the collapsible Heliar 35/3.5 lens in LTM mount is another marvelous lens I can't bring myself to let go.

I am rather partial to short tele lenses and given this, the Voigtlander 75mm f1.8 Heliar "classic" has always been a favorite of mine. It sort-of never really took off when it was new - I think because 75mm is a "betwixt and between" (neither "fish nor fowl") kind of focal length and because Voigtlander already had at least one 75mm lens in its line up. But now that more other optics companies are making 75mm lenses, I wonder if it will become more popular as its virtues become realized. This short review demonstrates its quality. If it has any "sin" it is that it is physically a tad long and skinny for many people who seem to prefer more shorter lenses, especially for R.F. use. This has never really bothered me though.

I have posted one of my shots made with the lens, below but I will see if I can also dig up a few more images taken by me with it. You can see from this example that it is a "natural" for portraiture where it really does live up to its "classic" description.

I had high expectations for the 50/2 Apo-Lanthar, and I was not disappointed! I'd like to complement it with the 35/2 A-L in the future.

I am happy with the CV lenses I have. They make good images and work well on M bodies. End of story. Add in that they are much more affordable than the Leica products and CV looks even better. And I have only one Leica lens, the 43 on the Q3 I find it sharp but soulless. CV is a good idea if you are shooting M bodies.

But, the 50 F1 and 28 Apo are my favorites so far. Well, so is the 90 F2.
If I were starting again, I would seriously consider this combination. It would cover about everything I need in RF photography.

But I am done with buying M lenses. The only Voigtlander lens I have is the Nokton 28mm F1.5. I like it a lot.

I'm currently shooting a Voigtlander Bessa R3A and a Panasonic Lumix S5 with three Voigtlander lenses (the 21mm f/4, 40mm f/1.4 MC, and 50mm f/1.1). The first two lenses are so small that they make the Bessa R3A an obvious choice to "grab and go" on a daily basis. The 50mm f/1.1 has loads of character.

i decided to buy the m versions instead of the z versions. i can kill 2 birds with one adapter. i have the voigtlander m to z adapter, the ttartisan and i just ordered the techart auto focus adapter to give that a try.

what are your thought son VoigtlanderImages Photography Gallery | Community for Voigtlander photographers and enthusiasts ?

I could bring that gallery version here to rff.

Is Voigtlander no longer offering lenses in Canon mounts?

I have a 28mm 2.8 Color Skopar in Canon EF mount that I really like.

(I also recently acquired a Nikon Z5 and Fringer adapter for Canon EF lenses. I'll need to see what Voigtlander is offering in Z-mount.)

Thanks,

- Murray

Edit: I just found listings for new Voigtlander lenses. While I don't find any offered in EF mount, they do have limited offerings in RF mount. It appears that Voigtlander is choosing to cater more to Nikon than to Canon.

I'm partial to Zeiss's ZM lenses yet several Voigtländer lenses really satisfy my soul.

Heliar Super Wide 14/4.5 II (sometimes maligned but I love it):

And the Color Skopar 50/2.2, Nokton 35/1.2, Nokton 50/1.1 and....

Okay. It's a tie. Voigtländer VM and Zeiss ZM. Adapted to my Nikon Z5 and Z6. Good stuff.

I have accumulated a lot of M-mount and LTM lenses over the past decade plus... including several Voigtländer lenses (Color-Skopar 21/3.5, Color-Skopar 28/3.5, Color-Skopar 35/2.5, Color-Skopar 50/2.5, Heliar Classic 50/1.5 SC) and they all work well. I wouldn't say that they "blow away" the Leica brand lenses (Summaron-M 28/5.6, Summilux 35/1.4 pre-ASPH, Summicron-M 50/2, Summarit-M 75/2.4, Hektor 135/4.5), Leica R lenses (...), or others (Pentax-L 43mm f/1.9 Special, M-Rokkor 90mm f/4). But they do provide good quality choices at a lower price point and competitive performance.

Each lens has its unique rendering signature, plus size, shape, weight, and resulting handling qualities. Find the ones that work for your photography, and go make great photographs with them. 🙂

I have a lot of lenses, some obscure ones which are wonderful. And some nice CV's. The sleeper CV I have is that 40mm f/1.2, the first version. I like the field of view and how it captures images and renders color. The new version is something like USD$1,100 now. Here is an image I like from my old one. On an M240.

I've been shooting exclusively with the Heliar Classic 50/1.5 SC for a couple of months. But hadn't tried to use it with the accessory EVF on the M10-M ... So I pulled that out, fitted it, and set the Heliar Classic wide open. Dang, it's hard to focus! Stopping down to f/2 then f/2.8, finally the peaking tool can find some edges ... Peaking is mostly a matter of finding good edges.

Hmm, I thought. So I pulled out the Summicron-M 50/2 ... Well, all I can say is that the Summicron-M 50/2 has much more edge contrast wide open at f/2 than the Heliar has until it's stopped down to f/2.8. The Summicron 50 has more corner/edge light fall off at f/2 than the Heliar does.

... And in real world use, both create some beautiful photographs. 😉
So you pick your potion and you enjoy the drink...
