R3M and R3A are these cameras the same build quality,meter etc.other than the obvious the N is mechanical and the A electronic shutter.

I handled both extensively before going for the A. The body materials & construction is identical.

I did have to stop shooting to replace exhausted batteries recently which I wouldn't have had to do if I had the M, but just a minor inconvenience.

I'm with DWW, I've handled both and they feel identical. 😀

AP is a plus on the A models, but I really like the independence of the M models, just in case the batts die on you, you're not completely stranded...

If you hit the end of your roll of film without a spare in your pocket, you'd also be "stranded". Why not tape spare batteries to your strap? 🙂

they have a different paint finish too i think, plus the A model has a on/off shutter lock switch, the M doesn't.

i chose an R2A over on R2M mostly because i thought the switch sounded like a good feature to stop accidental exposures in the camera bag...not that i've ever had that problem, but you know...IT COULD HAPPEN! LOL!! 😀
