The Silver Voigtlander Bessa R2M are in transit to CameraQuest, arriving towards the end of next week.
The R2M / R3M's are the the Leica that Leica should have made, but didn't. With its twice a year price increases into the economic stratosphere, Leica continues to play primarily to the rich guys while leaving the young photogs farther and farther behind. Leica has never needed a quality intro camera most serious photogs can afford more than right now, on the eve of the introducton of its most expensive standard production camera, the M8. The R2M / R3M is pretty much my idea of what Leica should have produced.
With the best metered manual display in any Leica M mount camera, a super bright RF/VF, easy smooth controls, and a relatively quiet mechanical shutter that works without batteries, it's difficult to realistically ask for much more in a new M camera for the price.
As to why not all four flavors were released at the same time, it was the guy behind the fence on the grassy knoll who did it.
