Voigtlander Super Wide-Heliar Aspherical II 15mm f/4.5

Looking to pick this lens up for my x-e1 and was curious if anyone has some feedback on using it in general and on the Fuji X camera system.

I've heard on the Nex-7 it displays magenta hazing or something to that effect. Are there any similar issues on the x-e1?

Is the Fuji M mount adapter the best route to go for M adapters?

Would love to see some pictures !

E-mail me your e-mail address to benmarks 2003 at yahoo dot com (but no spaces etc.) and I can send you either a RAW file right out of the camera or a LR converted DNG file or TIFF. Follow up - I took some quick snapshots this AM with the camera on a tripod and the lens wide open. There is very little color drift at the corners, unlike you might see with a NEX camera other other camera not optimized for use with wide angle lenses; however there is some smearing of detail in the far corners that I do not mind, but which some folks might find objectionable. I see that Fuji has a 14mm/f:2.8 lens in its roadmap for the XP1, XE1 line of cameras, so the question is whether the matched native lens from Fuji (which has, I assume, been mapped by the gremlins at Fuji on their own camera sensors to compensate for most optical shortcomings) will be a better bet. I see that RFF sponsor Precision Camera lists the lens as $899 and not yet in stock ("expected delivery 8th Oct. 2012"), so you may not be able to make an A-B comparison of these two lenses until some future date.

I am using the Rayqual adapter that Stephen Gandy sells. I also have a helical adapter that lets you get in pretty close with various M lenses, but it is not as solid as the Rayqual. I understand that the Fuji adapter has some limitations on which lenses may be used with it. I may check it out at some point, but for the moment the Rayqual adapter really gives me exactly what I need.

And here's a copy of a picture taken this afternoon at f:4.5. EXIF shows that I forgot to code the lens as a 15. But it was taken with the Heliar. No red-edge effect, but some smearing at the corners. - Ben

I'm using the ltm version of this lens on my xpro1 and love it. No CA or shifting that I've noticed. Don't know if the m-mount version is the same or not though. I use it with an ltm-m adapter on 2 different 3rd party M adapters (knock-off Helicoid and a regular rainbow imaging adapter) no problems whatsoever 🙂

For Fuji X Heliar M39 version is a better choice, it's even smaller, same optics, and has closer minimum distance of 30cm instead of 50cm on M mount Heliar.
