I am planning to buy one for my M6, but I have recently read some reviews talking about inconsistent performance between various samples, with several having sharpness problems particularly at wide aperture. Also I read that sometimes the problem is due to the LTM adapter.
The price of course is interesting considering that of a comparable Leica model. What's your experience with this lens and would you recommend buying one by mail without testing it first?

The only inconsistent performance I've experienced with this lens has been self-induced and has nothing to do with any inheirent problems with the lens itself. I find it to be a stellar performer and a great value.

Best regards,

Bob

I've had mine for a long long time and love it to pieces. Simply awesome. I used the Leica 28/2.8 Elmarit before and like the CV one better due to speed and find it lacks nothing at all in IQ relative to the Elmarit (in my non-scientific humble opinion of course).

Same here. I had never heard/read anything about quality control issues w/the 28/1.9 Ultron. I have the Leica 28/2 Summicron & the Ultron does very well in comparison. Both are good wide-open @ f/1.9 or f/2, though IMHO not to the same quality as longer lenses, e.g., 35/1.4 Summilux or 35/2 Summicron, @ f/2.

I've also never had a problem w/an LTM-M adapter, whether they were made by Leitz, Cosina Voigtlander, or an unknown generic manufacturer, though I have read of complaints re: some of the cheaper generic adapters.
