Voigtlander VC Meter II?

Kully-How do you get the ASA dial off to put the washer on. Mine doesn't have a screwdriver slot, just two indentations(Model VC II). Hard to grip with pliers. Mine is now even looser after I tried to get it off. Could you link me to you previous instructions?
Thanks, Mike

The search function is a little *** - I can't find them.

I had to take the dial off after I dropped the meter and it dented the outer part of the dial which meant it was stuck on ISO3200.

You can use the two little indentations to take it off with a special tool (perhaps a watch repair shop) or maybe a compass. But I didn't have access to these.

I used some small pliers to grip the edges of the screw head and unscrewed it (normal way - anti-clockwise)... If you're having problems - you may find you need smaller / better pliers which close properly.

Be careful - that screw is quite slender and it's head is rather large in diameter, if you try and bodge it with pliers which are too big you might end up seperating the head from the screw portion.

Could you post a digi-photo of your pliers next to the VCII - perhaps with an indication of what you're trying to unscrew and how you're gripping it with the pliers?

Used it on an M4P and M6

Used it on an M4P and M6

Works well on either, but I like the M6s narrow angle of weighting, got better photos from the M6 built-in meter, but am used to more of a spot type meter than a wide-ish type like the CV, CV works great though. Still have mine and wil use it on non-metered M's.

Has anyone used the Voigtlander VC Meter II with an M body?

What were your feelings about it. Was it useful?

Kully's tip on the irritating ISO dial fix is invaluable ... it's been the only thing I haven't liked about the meter! I tend to keep mine in my pocket most of the time and found a little leather case for it that used to hold a filter or similar. It reads incident light off the palm of my hand near perfectly ... I use to use the back of my hand but now prefer the palm ... amazingly there is a stop difference between the two!

Ahso!

I just remembered.

There is already a crinkled washer under the dial - if you don't want (or more likely cannot find a super-thin washer) you have two options.

(1) Crinkle the washer even more (when you see it you will know).
(2) The dial outer is made from aluminium (if not then a rather cheap alloy), you could squeeze the sides toghether with your pliers thereby causing friction between the dial edge and the dial.

The one thing that annoys me about the VCII is that there is no cover for the front sensor. I find that the crud in my pockets transfers itself to the sensor giving me a wrong reading.

But that's partly my fault - I use my pockets like they were my manbag/dustbin/food store.

Update-Finally got the screw off-just a little muscle required. i placed a thin plastic washer under the spinning dial, but over the crinkled washer, and tightened up the works. it works great and has a few scratches on the dial from my handiwork.
