Voigtlander VC Meter II

I'm doing some landscaping here and there. I'd like to use my Leica IIf and the Voigtlander lenses I have. But my problem there is the metering. I've been considering to buy the VC Meter for a while but I have this little interrogation :

If I want to take long exposures (I will using 100iso in these situations), can I put the meter on 3200 iso and infer that 1 second exposure there corresponds directly to 32 second exposure at 100 iso ? Will there be a problem of reciprocity or everything should be fine ?

Any other compact alternative ?

Hallo Angeloks,

The VCII only handles EV 1 - 20 at EI100. If you slap it on EI3200, the most you get is 1s at f/2. Is this what you meant?

Depending on the film, wouldn't that be 6 seconds?

Well... shouldn't it be that way ? For a fixed aperture.

(3200iso,1s) = (1600iso,2s) = (800iso,4s) = (400iso,8s) = (200iso,16s) = (100iso,32s)

I have VCII but can be of even less help than I have been already. Have only used it for day to day shooting.

If you are going to persue serious landscape work I think you would be better off with a spot meter. I just picked up a used Pentax Digital Spotmeter. While they are not cheap they are very accurate, well built and slip nicely into a coat pocket. Mine fits nicely in my hand and is a perfect fit in my gear bag.

I have been using such a spotmeter for about 15 years now, and I find it the best meter for my needs. I stop replacing batteries in my manual cameras, and I just use this meter. It is very accurate.

for metering for long exposures you're maybe better off getting a second hand gossen luna pro sbc. i got one and it amazes me that it'll give me an accurate reading when i can barely see what's in front of me.

Thanks for your replies. Actually, I won't be doing a lot of lanscaping, just once every while. I just wanted to know if it will work to set the VCII at 3200iso when I'm using 100iso film to multiply the correct exposure time by 32.
