I have the chance to pick up a Voightlander Vito IIa for a decent price..

anyone around here have or familiar with them?

is it worth it to snag one?

im on a retro camera kick lately and have added a few toys to my list, and after talking to a friend they said they have this camera laying around in a leather case and gave me the opportunity to purchase it...

things ive added lately:

- Kodak Brownie Hawkeye (non-flash)
- Polaroid Land Camera Swinger 20 (came with unused Sylvania AG1B Flashes)

also added an older video camera too
- Kodak Cine Scopemeter Camera Turret f/1.9 (it came with a box of unused Kodachrome II Movie Film)

I have an earlier version (pre-war Vito), which I really enjoy. High build quality, nice lens, compact. As long as the price is reasonable, no reason not to pick it up.

Buy it, what have you got to lose?

They are not making them any more, and if you get tired of it sell it here for what you bought it for.

any idea what theyre worth ? ...

the potential purchase price we talked aboit is around $45 USD

I seen them sell for double that amount, in super minty shape and with no issues.

45 bucks for a fully working one is not too bad.

Look on Ebay and once you have a search, tick the box for sold listings only - these are the real prices. There may be a few lenses - Skopar is a Tessar - type and seems to be well loved by photographers, triplet types won't go for much though. Ultron (if they did it on the Vito) will be $$$$$$$$$$$. It's not an RF though is it, I thought it was a scale focus camera? Or do you mean the Vitomatic IIa? If you do then this is a unit-focus rangefinder with meter (same as II but with the needle visible in the finder) and is a heavy but decent lump, and impossible to attach a strap due to the useless lugs - find one with an ERC. They go for about $20 or so.

I've had one, lovely little folder, but sold it on Catawiki six months ago. With the original ERC it brought 80 euro. You did WELL!
