does anyone have the voitlander strap for their bessa camera?
what do you think of it?

the ads read that it's 35 inches long, not adjustable.
anyone use a non adjustable strap? what do you think?

(yes, it's a slow day at the office)

I use the CV Deluxe strap for all my Bessas. The strap is strong and very well made of rope material and reinforced with leather at the ends. It even has leather pieces that prevent the split rings from damaging the camera body. The fixed length does have some problem if you are carrying two cameras at any moment of time. But it is much more comfortable and stylish than the nylon strap that comes with the Bessas. 😀

I bought the deluxe strap with my R. Shoulda just got a Gripper (Domke). The CV straps are ok, but the deluxe is not worth $25 or whatever they are charging, and I would rather an adjustable one.

I've seen the Voigtlander strap, it's also sold as a Jessop's strap and by another 3rd party (which I can't remember). The deluxe strap cost $60NZ, the Jessop's one is $14NZ. Only differance is that the Voigtlander logo.

I must be a freak, but I quite like the strap my R came with. Sure it's thin has heck, but it's quite soft and doesn't chafe. The worse strap I've got is my Hasselblad strap.

Stu 🙂

thanks todd, i've seen something very similar locally but didn't check it out very closely. maybe tomorrow i'll head out for a better look.
i don't really need a new strap, i'm using an old leica strap on the bessa now but just felt the urge to have something different. i tend to get bored easy and look for even small changes.

Joe,
if you're looking for a really comfortable strap, this is the best I have found. Wide at the neck to distribute the weight across a larger area, it feels really good esp. with a heavy camera.

That looks just like my Promaster strap. You can see it here. I like it very much for my SLR, which is heavier. It feels a tad big, though, for my little Bessa. But you're right on Todd; it's very comfortable.

I've actually thought about getting a Voit strap myself.

Mine came with the cheap nylon strap that I came to like after a time.

However, I use the Domke Gripper on many of my cameras. Comfortable and very sturdy.

For heavier cameras, I use the wide strap and for lighter cameras the thin strap.

The narrow one is about 1 inch, and the wider one about 1 1/2 inches. Really good size for the heavier cameras, such as a Rolleiflex, a Contax IIIa (meter makes the cameras pretty darn heavy) and other older pre-1970 gear.
