There's probably other cameras out there that could be included quite deservedly ... but like Paris Hilton these are the ones that seem to be getting the headlines.

Feel free to make other suggestions though! :p
 
Another write-in for the Nikon SP-2005.

So: two cameras, and four Digital Imagers on the List...

I say the Ikon, none of the others will look nearly as good as an accessory to the cool crowd. ;)
Currently available is definitely limiting the cool factor though.
 
I voted for the Bessa R4 as I guess its the cheapest film rf on the list and as everyone knows film rf cameras are the coolest of cams :D apart from maybe large format hey my boy agrees so I gotta be right:angel:
 
I voted D3/D300. From the samples I've seen, the D3 outperforms pretty well every other camera on the market and not by a small margin either. If I were a pro in need of a no-compromises DSLR (well, unless you count the bulk and weight of a boat anchor as being a compromise :rolleyes:) then it's the body I'd get.

Having used both the R4A and R3A, I think I'd have to vote for the R3A due to its beautiful 1:1 viewfinder and ease of focusing ANY of the CV lenses. But let me digress...

I just read Mike Johnson's article in the latest issue of "Black & White Photography" about the idea of a B&W-only digital camera. What a GREAT idea! Basically he speculates that there will soon be one or more B&W-only cameras on the market and he thinks they will likely be capable of producing amazing images. The idea is that since the sensor will only have to deal with the luminance (darkness or lightness) of things, the camera will be freed up to capture an extremely wide range of light... possibly wider than film! :) Now THAT would be "coooool".

Current Nikon D300 and Pentax K20D and at least one of the Sony's already capture a wider range of tonal values...an adjustable setting. As well, B&W film records color images and reduces them to B&W, it doesn't record B&W images.
 
@pitxu - i would get the ZI instead of the R4A only for the build quality. fortunately the ZI has other things going for it as well.
 
if you stick to the small cv lenses the r4a/m is a fabulous camera.

if you need a longer ebl then the zi is unbeatable.
 
the build quality of the r4a is pretty darn good and the lenses are very solid feeling, even the lighter weight ones.

if i needed, i could live and shoot very happily with only my cv kit.

Since coolness is the deciding factor here, the SP 2005. Attach a Millennium 50/1.4 and you're good to go :cool:

Interesting...... Would we loose out on the control we have now of editing RAW color files to B&W? I shoot RAW but have it display as B&W via the camera and then convert them in photoshop.
