I'm having a strange issue with Vuescan recently: I'll preview a strip of 5 images, watch the previews pop on screen one by one, and then, at the end of the batch preview all of the previewed frames disappear. Usually, I'll re-run the batch preview, watch the images pop up one by one again, and then the whole series will finally be available to me for moving back and forth among the previewed images and pick which to scan.
I am using a Coolscan IV and I have tried different preview resolution settings with similar results...first batch scan goes "poof", then I start over and the following one works as it should.
BTW, I'm using version 9.5.17 and have experienced the issue for the past few versions. An email to the publisher has not been returned.

I usually only do a couple of previews to line up the film before batch scanning. I noticed recently that when the batch is done, vuescan will only show the last 4-5 scans from the batch.
It used to be the case, that vuescan would hold all scans in memory until the memory was released. If the memory was full (especially when using an old computer), it would stop saving subsequent scans. I would need to release the memory manually, and rescan part of the batch.
I don't know, but I suspect that this problem was fixed by auto-releasing the memory once it reaches a certain level. In your case this is at 5 frames. Perhaps more ram would help.

It's a bug. File a bug report with Ed.

Maybe a few more reports to Vuescan will prompt a response... mine went unanswered thus far.

Whenever I have a problem with Vuescan, the thing that helps every time is to run system restore to the day that that problem hadn't existed yet.
