This is the first of the many S-mount related articles to come. I am enjoying repairing S-mount lenses now as it is a good diversion from my usual F-mount lenses.

Please enjoy it and if you found any errors, please let me know so I can fix it ASAP!

I hope that this article will be useful for somebody who needs more info on how to fix their W-Nikkor as there is virtually nothing on the net for this lens.

Nice article, Richard. I'd just like to offer you some encouragement to keep doing these. I'd thought about doing a similar blog myself, but never got around to it. There is a dearth of information on a lot of the things you cover, so it's great that you are out there giving it coverage. Please keep it up.

Nice work Richard. Another vote here to keep going with the Nikon S-mount related articles. BTW I was the guy who made the comment on your S2 article about Nikon's tough coatings for submarine periscopes :)

P.S. Is that you in your avatar photo? I go around the Tokyo used camera shops from time to time scrounging through the bargain bins too, but have never seen anyone with big hair like that! If that's really you and I spot you some time, I'll say hello!

Oh, so it's you :eek::eek::eek:
It's sometimes hard to keep track who says what in the blog:bang:

I am now bald but when I had hair I looked like the guy in my photo. he is the very famous Asian Prince. I frequent the shops here in Shinjuku near my animation studio. it's easy to spot me, I am a middle aged asian man with a stocky build. I had long hair and shaved brows like Ziggy stardust but im bald now.

Thanks, everybody for the encouragement:eek:

I am going to write an article for the F-mount 10.5cm this month and a few weeks after that, the 10.5cm for the S-mount.

I got requests for the F 10.5cm earlier so I will make that one first. I do however have plenty of requests for an S 10.5cm in facebook. 2 people had oil problems and one had a bad grease problem. this lens seem to develop it more than most due to a design decision about the cam and it's rotation collar. so twisting the helicoid also activates 2 other simple machines and all this add up to the heavy helicoid feeling :eek::eek::eek:

this lens is also prone to oil contamination.

the 3.5cm f/3.5 was a joy to work on.

in May, I will post a complete teardown of the Nikon S including the shutter replacement.

After that, the Nikkor-HC 5/2.

then 2 lightmeter articles

it was the mohawk before. but now I shave my head bald :eek::eek::eek:

your profile says that youre from Yokohama. Penguin Camera should be near you.

Penguin Camera is not that far away, but a little inconvenient to get to for me. There's also Ohnuki Camera, which is closer and they usually have interesting stuff. But tbh I'd rather just jump on a train and head into Shinjuku, Nakano, Ueno, or Ginza!
