@davidswiss: Thanks for your comment. The top photo is of the Carson River close to the California/Nevada state line, and the remaining three are taken on the east side of the Sierra Nevada mountains in California above South Lake (pictured in the last photo).

The smoke on the horizon in this shot was from the Pelham fire, ignited by arsonists in late December, 2019. Luckily the Tasmanian Fire Service were able to control this one before it did too much damage.
