A Roman memorial bench at the Porta Stabia of Pompeii:
The Romans would build their necropolises right outside the walls of a city, and wealthy individuals would pay for things like these benches really as a way of showing off the importance of their family. This bench had just recently been excavated, it's in an area off limits to tourists.
