Before Isle Royale (in Lake Superior) became a National Park in 1940, there were several fisheries operating on the island. Don’t know if it’s true, but the story I heard is that a local fisherman deliberately beached the boat. Not sure of his reason.

This reminds me of boats left derelict in my local waters. I would sail the back channels in my dinghy and strip these boats of any sound wood above the water, bringing home various strips and planks of Mahogany.
