Nathaniel--you're building a steel schooner??
An amazing project, and congrats!
Is this for commercial use?
Let's see some more pix! And--where do you even get the steel plates?
Not like you can go to your local hardware store..
Thanks!

My dad, my brother and I are boatbuilders, usually specializing in wood. This is our first steel boat. It is quite a different process; while it has been a great learning experience for all of us, I don't think any of us would want to build another.
The boat is 50' on deck, with about a 14' beam (I think), and draws somewhere around 4 1/2' – 5' with the centerboard up. She will have a stays'l schooner rig. An interesting feature of the hull designis that, while she is hard-chined with arced bottom and sides, the chine is wholly underwater, so she will look like a round-bilged boat.
The owner (standing on deck in the 1st picture) plans to go cruising around Newfoundland and Labrador, where having a steel boat might be a good idea.
I'll post some more pictures later – right now my eyelids are drooping, and I must arise in the morning to work on an exiting new Venture which we are embarking upon.
