I missed photographing the El. Much as I was "into" things on rails, I didn;t take up the camera even semi-seriously until just a few years after you did. By then, too late.This is the last remaining section of the Third Avenue El. I really didn't have any purpose or reason for this shot. I was waiting for the train and saw the scene and took it. It was a Sunday, early 1971. I was in my teens. My first real camera, and my original Mamiya SD.
Hear, hear. Long my favorite mode of travel, besides my bicycles.Trains, to me, have always represented freedom and mobility. To go places, whether it's across town or across the country. To explore new ground or visit familiar turf.
(I'm not really into cars.)
