Taken a long time ago. No one knows who the architect was. It was built in 25 years, a record. The rich gave money, the poor gave labor and pulled carts with the limestone blocks used to build the cathedral. They stopped every hour for prayer and meditation. This is Chartres, no ordinary cathedral.

These are an old set of pictures from a cathedral in northern France - I'll have to dig to remember to city. From the outside this was a dark and relatively uninspiring building, sat on a street corner...
