W/NW Compact Film Cameras

Nice photos Nick. I think a lot of us own and like film compacts.. there's threads for individual cameras in the Point-N-Shoot forum and Scale focus 35s forum but no compact film cameras thread until this one.

My favourites (limited to film compacts I've actually used or owned) are the XA/XA4, Mju I and II, Trip 35 and Rollei 35S. Out of those I'd go for the Rollei 35S for its wonderful Sonnar lens, and the XAs for point-and-shoot convenience.

Here's one from the 35S:

This is my Contax Tix taken with my wife's Tix or vice versa. Anyway, it's one of the smallest and neatest cameras I've ever owned and it has a lens hood (giving it an extra star) that can be unscrewed and reversed around the lens for when it is switched off and the lens has retracted.

Alas, it's APS and no one witll repair them these days...

Regards, David

I haven't posted many photos recently with compact cameras, although I've been shooting with them. Like lynn, I'm a fan of the Olympus XA. Here's one from last spring, taken with an XA on Agfa Vista 400 film:

Great idea to feature images from all compacts together!

I seem to have settled on the Fuji Klasse S as my pocketable Can Do No Wrong camera:

...But I keep a Rollei 35s for the Sonnar mystique, and to keep my scale focus skills at an acceptable minimum:
