I'm struggling to identify the model year of the Panasonic, but that guy is definitely old school with the downtube shifters, drilled non-aero levers, and frame pump. I ride a 1987 Panasonic DX-5000, but I'm nowhere near as cool as this guy. 😎Old School![]()

I also used to have a 1984 Miyata 310. I modified it as a "city bike" with some swept back handlebars, shellacked tape, a front basket, and a honey Brooks B-17 saddle. Unfortunately, it was stolen some years ago when thieves broke into my office where I'd parked it in my cubicle. 😩 Those vintage Japanese steel frame bikes were so well built and ride great. And, he has the cool center pull brakes too!
The Panasonic DX-5000 is a nice bike. Back when I was still riding and occasionally racing I rode a 61cm Koga Miyata; a beautiful bike and a great hill climber. The top tube was so short I had to use a 14cm Cinelli 1a handlebar stem. I have pictures of those good old days in photo albums in the upper reaches of the closet, maybe someday I'll get them out and... no probably not; I don't have much energy for reliving the past anymore.
All the best,
Mike
