My dad, Thanksgiving 2010, 82 years old, bright-minded but terribly weak from heart/vascular issues. FED-2, I-26, Kentmere 400, D-76 1:1, Epson 4490. Poor lighting in late afternoon in dad's living room, shot probably a full stop underexposed at 1/30 @ f2.8, but that was as low as I could go.

A Grand-dad...
Alan (grandpa) and Nathan (grandson)
Nathan's mom, Andrea, found out she had cancer when she was 3 months pregnant with Nathan...she refused treatment until he was born, she spent the next 6 months in the hospital so the doctors could monitor everything...
This picture was taken days before Nathan's first birthday...unfortunately, his mother didn't survive long enough to see this day...
Nathan lives next door and his grandparents live a few houses down the block...

Going through some of my old b+w negs, came across this one....

This is my Dad, probably in about 1996. He's standing on the porch of his longtime real estate office at 133 Coxwell Ave. in east-end Toronto. This photo may have been taken when he was shutting down the office and emptying it of its contents. Back when he was starting off in real estate in the early 1950's, he would often get listings and sell houses door-to-door (could you imagine trying that method today?). When I was helping him clean out his office, he came across this little book buried in the back of one of his desk drawers. "Look at this!", my Dad exclaimed. "This is the book I used to write all my commissions in when I was began selling houses." He thumbed through the pages of the tiny book and stopped at a particular set of entries: "Here's the time I sold three houses on the same block in a week!"

I wonder how today's real estate brokers would have managed back then.
