The dog by which I judge all dogs
The dog by which I judge all dogs
Dear Board,
A friend of mine sent me a video of two dogs figuring out how to get a big branch through a narrow opening. It reminded me of the following story.
This is a 100% true story. Years ago when I used to fish, and hung out 30 weekends a year at the AA Pro Shop in White Haven PA, Bob Sentiwany and his wife Mary Lou had this guy Boozer.
He was a dog that they just found at their front door scratching to get in one night. They had no idea where he came from? He truly was the best dog that ever lived.
One time we, meaning Terry and I, were throwing sticks into the Lehigh River. Boozer would run and jump in and get every one of them and bring them back.
Bob said to us, "Hey we need to get going", so Terry picked up a branch and threw it in the river. It was easily 5 feet long. Boozer took off, and it took him a while to get it, and drag it out of the river, but he did.
He came hauling ass up the path to bring it back to us until he got to the two trees that closed the path down to 4 feet wide. At full throttle he hit those trees, and nearly knocked himself unconscious.
He staggered to his feet, picked the branch up lengthwise, dragged it through the narrow spot, and then grabbed it broadside and commenced to drop it at our feet.
He really was the best dog I've ever known, and y'all know I love my dogs to death.
