Flaca, a friend and neighbor in Havana, at work on the Prado. This is part of a series I am doing about everything for sale "in the street" or the Cuban unofficial / black market which may be larger than the official government controlled economy.

Flaca is technically not for sale but you can rent her for the night if she likes you. She is intelligent and well educated but says she cannot support her mother and daughter on what she would make as a teacher. Someone once asked Fidel if it was true that Cuba was in such economic trouble that some college graduates had to work as prostitutes. His reply was that Cuba was so well educated that even the prostitutes had university degrees. Flaca finished her college degree while in prison a few years ago.
