W/NW: Fake Plastic Cows

I know this is an old thread, but I just came across it. I think it's really neat. I didn't know this charity thing started in Europe.

In my town and the next town, they have done circus animals (lions, tigers, girraffs, etc.) Guess I need to get some photos of the ones that are around town yet.

This could be a new thread with photos from all over the world!

Hard to say where the cow thing originated. I remember Chicago doing it around 1998. I know we did it here in NYC in 2000 because I remember seeing the cows on the WTC plaza (there were about five of them scattered about).

Someone, somewhere probably has the definitive history of the "Plastic Cow Moovement". ;)

It's all likely a conspiracy by the otherwise idle factory that turns out these plastic critters. :D I've seen this same scheme carried out with plastic whales in Hawaii...

Here is a plastic cow I met today, at the Arizona Science Center in Phoenix. The left side of the cow is open to illustrate to kids how food progresses from the front to the back, using Ping-Pong balls as the food metaphor. My 3-y-o daughter and I found it quite educational :) I used Contax G2 + 28mm at F4 to capture this beauty.
