thanks paul. mixed emotions about these people, they live such difficult lives yet have this warmth and certain happiness, hard to explain. very open folk, easy to communicate with. i went back to this place a couple of times, and often wish i got more involved. the place was ripped apart, guess the view from new office blocks and shopping malls nearby wasn't appreciated :/

a couple of photographers have documented the communities being, well, basically kicked out of where they lived for decades, and relocated, for example matt lutton and sanja knezevic, pretty powerful stuff.
