W/NW Graffiti

Het Alziend Oog / The Eye of Providence.
De-saturated the surroundings to make the eye stand out more.

Havana, same location as b&w photo back 2 previous but 3 years later. I will probably photograph this again in a few weeks, 8 years later, as part of a new project of capturing Havana, the tired old city, with a Holga, the imperfect camera.

Santa Cruz del Norte, Cuba - The title "antiseptico" gives a clue about the conceptual nature of much of Cuban art as one realizes the chiseling away of the genital area was not an afterthought bringing graffiti into social acceptability with the Cuban culture of conservatism regarding nudity. Detailed analysis discloses the entire life sized painting was created around the pre-existing chiseled section in the wall.

I love the dichotomy of the high tech Cannondale bike (with Trek wheels) leaning up against the wall with such an anti-establishment message.
He Bob, Thanks...the Bontrager wheels were on my Trek and when that frame cracked I switched all my components to this Cannondale frame.
I took this shot only because a few weeks before there was a much friendlier tagging on the wall...it was a smiley face and said "Smile more"...I didn't stop to get the shot and the next time I rode past it was painted over by the school district.
This time I stopped...good thing because two days later this was gone too...
I was wanting a shot of my bike with a bit more controversial backdrop...

Not necessarily anti-establishment, since we don't know who the "other side" is. But certainly emblematic of the devolution of political discourse in our present age.
