W/NW: Guitars

This post is not exactly on topic but I have recently been watching a series of videos on YouTube about the making of violins by luthiers. The process is similar to that for guitars but arguably more complex due both to the traditional styles used and due to the way they are tuned precisely to get the notes desired. (In the olden days that was done by ear - now they use a tone generator and software to analyze the vibrations emanating from the plates.)

In any event I found it fascinating - others might too. The craftsmanship is eye-wateringly beautiful.

The following is on the carving of the top plate - it is as good a place for a casual observer to start as any but if you want to follow the entire process you may wish to start at the beginning of the process.
