W/NW: Lake Ontario

Not fair, you're on the pretty side!

Lived near the south shore for years and never took advantage of it for much more than picking up rocks.

The south side sunsets must be great because you have a clear horizon to the north west.

One would think that, but growing up in Rochester, home of 18% gray sky, not so much.

My wife yells at me for taking pictures of clouds, but the ones here in Iowa are just so different and beautiful.

It was a hard place to alpha test Ektachromes as it was naturally overcast blue. Never understood how they could tell if they got it right.

Landscape photography is basically cloud photography, for example the most famous landscape shot of all time, Moonrise, Hernandez. There are very few great landscape shots without clouds.

I have never used film for landscape photography.

Bill - now you have motivated me to take good pictures of the lake around ROC. :D Heading down the Parkway west, or along the roads east, there are some good locations as well as in Charlotte, Durand-Eastman, Seabreeze and Summerville. Occasionally we see some decent sunset (and sunrise) shots published in what generously called a newspaper here.
