It's amazing how massive things are built.
I'm always blown away by these construction methods too!
This is the area where my family in Switzerland is from....Valle Maggia up above Lago Maggiore.

Here are a couple closer so you can see just how massive the weight its. All of this is solid Granite.

The Cardiff giant. Not the original, but a copy that resides in the Fort museum, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. The original was carved from a piece of gypsum mined in Fort Dodge, which explains the local connection.
