Thanks for the comment and I do agree with you , but it wasn't the hog that I was referring to.

Ride, dive, shoot.
New battery and fresh oil in. Definitely taking her out more, and more projects to come in the coming months...

Mind fart, or senior moment, not sure which. I meant Excelsior. Back in the 1980's I was a design engineer at Schwinn Bicycle Company here in Chicago, and we had one of those in the basement, I think it was NOS. Pristine, in grey, not the red.
You can see the little round Schwinn badge on the front head tube.
Best,
-Tim
I spent a lot of hours on a road bike. A friend had a restored Schwinn Paramount he would tide on special occasions. We had a big ride on Christmas mornings, that's when some old stuff would come out.

Whizzers remain popular in Cuba as they appear to be easily repairable and many parts can be reproduced by a competent machinist. You see them being used for daily transportation. This was part of a group that rode up to Gibara, a fishing village on the NE coast, from Holguin city for the Camilo Cienfuegos celebration.

I've long felt that was the period when the styling of Triumph's twins was at its peak. Every aspect of the bikes looked perfect and they were so nicely proportioned. Is this a 650 or 500? I'm not well versed enough to spot the difference, but I would happily own either. Always fancied a Hi-Fi Scarlet Bonnie or Lincoln Green Daytona. Actually, I still do!New battery and fresh oil in. Definitely taking her out more, and more projects to come in the coming months...

From a few years ago on a ride day up Tasmania's Derwent Valley. This is Robert's 850 Commando during a coffee stop. Camera was my 500C/M with the 80mm Planar f/2.8, recorded on Fuji Acros 100 developed in ID-11 1 + 3, 15 minutes/20C.
Cheers,
Brett

^ As much as I used to lust after an older Atlas , it was one roadtest and that lust was gone forever ( Jesus did that thing vibrate ) , the Commando here was a breath of fresh air from a riders point of view , you could still feel your fingers after a ride . And no I'm not being too harsh on the Atlas' . Concerning the lovely Tri 650 above , am I correct in saying it looks to have a later model front wheel (brake) assembly ? Peter

Cool pix, looks like some kind of backyard hooligan race. Where was it?
Good Times!
