W/NW : Motorcycles

moggi1964 , this Triumph speed twin is on my wanting list , it's the most beautiful bike at the moment, together with the r nineT pure. I'm riding a 1993 Ducati M900 right now, but at 68 I'd like a more roomy and comfy bike with less pressure on the wrists. I 'm into bikes since '76 , had a few bikes : bmw R90/6, 1973 Ducati 750s, bmw r80/7 ... As you see , only naked bikes, don't like fairings, it's all about the wind ...

Friends riding in the classic hillclimb event we had last weekend on a 1962 BMW R96S and Steib sidecar.

Are you sure? Looks like a CB77 rather than one of the 'Dream' models...

This is one I am sure about, just not sure if I can find a side view, which would help. It was the first “large displacement” Honda in town. 🙂
It was the first large displacement anything in town that wasn’t a Harley, and there were very few of those, none owned by anyone without a rap sheet. The local scene was mostly Cushmans, Vespas, mopeds, 3 speed bikes, and a smattering of those new Honda 50’s one could rent by the hour, though I wasn’t aware of anyone who owned one. Yet. This bike had been directly imported by a customs broker, since Honda didn’t yet have much of a dealer network for something this “extreme.” It was a different time.

A different time, for sure! "You meet the nicest people on a Honda" in their advertising trying to change the poor public perception of bike riders!
Take a look at this link to a CB72 Hawk 250 from 1962 to see if it looks like your pic. I had mentioned CB77 as that's what I had, a 305cc Super Hawk which looks the same as well.

This link below has a couple of photos of a C71 Dream 250cc from about 1960, with styling similar to other Dream models of the time...

Thanks, Doug. I will take a look and see if I have some better photos of the bike ferreted away somewhere. Maybe I was the one Dreaming.

Honda 250 Dream 1966
Period correct riding apparel.

It could be that my memory cells have faded in the past 50 years, but that looks like a Honda CB72 - which was a 250cc. The Honda Dreams had different fenders front and rear than what is shown above. The motorcycle in the above photo definitely has the CB fenders / mud guards.

Back to those memory cells, my first motorcycle was a 67 Honda CL90 Scrambler. To me at the time, the CL250 and CL305 Scramblers were the big dogs!
