Slow down. Embrace the inner silence. Time stands still. Observe the light. The shadows.
Drink it in. Let yourself drift in the quiet moments, the secret moments where you linger while the world passes by.
Quiet reflection in nature. Quiet portraits that speak softly of the soul. Moments of gentle contemplation, wherever they may be.
Quietness that slows the breathing, relaxes the body and rewards reflection.
Quiet photographs infuse the consciousness while remaining in the emotions.
Share them here. The quiet photographs. You know the ones.
Inspiration: Pentti Sammallahti, Robert Adams, André Kertész, Eugène Atget, Todd Hido, Michael Kenna, Edward Hopper, much of pictorialism, memorials…

Occasionally in early evening I walk a track through local wetlands around a coastal lagoon. Often I have it to myself. It’s very peaceful watching the light fade from the sky and water.

From the cliff path I noticed this couple on the rock platform.. she lying down looking at the waves washing against the rocks, he sitting motionless, apparently deep in thought. They were still like that when I walked back a while later. The sun was warm on their backs as the shadows gradually lengthened across the rocks.

This tree stands in a field on the south side of Indianapolis Road, east of Buskirk Road, in rural southwest Allen County, Indiana.
I photographed it on a foggy spring morning in 2016, around 7am. That morning was one of the most beautiful that I have seen in a long time. I photographed several places nearby before the sun came out.

Lynn,
Atget and Kertész, etc. too tall an order for me. Nice idea for a thread though.

It was a foggy morning here in Pensacola, and I drove over to one of my favorite quiet places where I am often the only person present. I stay for 1-1.5 hours there, just observing the water and the sky and the birds.
I keep on returning to this place to be there by myself.
