W/NW Quiet photographs

From the cliff top there was only the faint sound of the sea below, gently washing against the rocks. The smoke from distant bushfires lay as a thick blanket. Even the birds were quiet.

Yes, I was fortunate in 2017 to see Gregory Crewdson’s exhibition, Cathedral of the Pines, at the Photographers’ Gallery, London.

Huge, technically brilliant prints staged, lit and finessed to the nth degree but, for me, lacking in emotional engagement because of the ‘performance’ to capture the photograph.

Very nice shot, Lynn. Though if I were out in that swell, I am not sure how quiet I would be. There might be a few gurgles and arghs and gacks. :^)
Joking - I used to sail a lot and got the job of navigator on our offshore races as I was the only one on the yacht who did not throw up on the charts.

Thanks Peter, and thanks also for the funny anecdote 🙂 - I'm not a sailor but I do enjoy a rough day crossing the heads on the Manly ferry.
