W/NW Ruins...Derelicts...Abandonments

Once this was a busy truck stop with fuel, restaurant, motel, etc. It’s near the intersection with Hwy 6 a few miles west of Tonopah, Nevada

Out to Lunch, on Flickr. Chisinau, Moldova, 2008. When I took this picture I thought these were the remnants of a Synagogue. When I posted it on Flickr, some posters commented that it had rather been a religious school. What is amazing is that these ruins remained in downtown Chisinau for more than 60 years and as far as I know today, these ruins are still there.
 
Not so much "abandoned", as "closed". This strip mall was built in the 1960s. I never would have guessed that - it looks much newer than that. I would have guessed 1980s.... Must be some 80s-era remodeling to the facades. Anyway, it'll all be gone soon for new development. A new fence went up around the property a few weeks after the photo.
