I bet we've all done them, for me this is a pretty new project development :) And a challenge, being in charge and in total control while being the subject.

Probably the best selfie I've done ... with the nicest camera I own! (Rolleiflex 2.8D)

Nice work, all! But I have to turn on the rant mode for a moment -- when the heck did "selfie" enter the lexicon? "Self portrait" is too hard to say? I suspect the hipsters....

+1. While I'm all for the amusing cutification of words, a la the Germans particularly, 'selfie' is just something that grates whenever I hear it. I had actually thought it was a tabloid invention, but I am sure there are others I should be cursing, as I bang my knobbly cane..

EDIT: Some great and imaginative self-portraits here, I can see this shall be a thread worth checking in on from time to time.. :)

If I am not mistaken, "Selfie" is actually meant to sound like "Cellfie" aka short for "Cell phone self-portrait". Which, in a generation who shortcuts every word on their phone, is too much to type. So "Selfie" was born. :D

I love taking pics of myself. I cooperate, I am willing to move to the right light, I hold still when I am asked. I am my best subject. And nothing beats those photos to see you as a person as you change, age, your style shifts, your cameras come and go, etc. IMHO.

I shoot a lot of selfies. I guess I like them because it allows me to play with light and shadow and I don't complain. This was part of a set at the tail end of a cold and I wanted to play with some harsh lighting and shadows against a new backdrop cloth.
