The town of St. Joseph, in the Florida panhandle, was founded in 1835 and rapidly became the largest community in Florida. The constitution establishing Florida as a state was written and signed there.
In 1841, six years later, a ship carrying yellow fever docked there and caused the death of half the residents. The remainder fled. In 1844, a hurricane destroyed the essentially abandoned community.
This cemetery, known as the yellow fever cemetery, is all that remains of St. Joseph.

Out to Lunch, on Flickr. A mountain to die for. Nui Ba Den or Black Lady Mountain. Near Tay Ninh and Moc Bai on the Cambodian border. During
the 'American War' thousands of soldiers died battling for control of it's summit. On the rusty billboard you can still read the English advertisement: "Fruit and Confectionery Store". Canon 5dmkii - L2.8/24-70.
