Tim was a fixture of downtown Orlando, Florida for about a year. He was quite intelligent and conversant, never causing any problem by stepping outside the designated "panhandler box". He told me that he lived by himself in a nice hobo camp on the edge of town, close to a Walmart for shopping, a convenience store, and the bus stop were he commuted to work downtown. He would quit early in the hot summer afternoons to go sit in an air conditioned bar and have a drink. Tim said he felt sorry for me and my social pressures that required me to go to work every morning, Monday through Friday. Then, one day Tim was gone. We hope he simply made the decision to move on.
This is a civilized wording IMHO, much better than "Dead End". I've seen the equally nice "No Outlet" too. Similar is
"No Exit", English title for Sartre's play. Several nicer alternatives to a Dead End!
