I had worked my way out to the end of the rocky outcrop. The wind was pretty stiff, the sea was tumultuous, I thought to myself "what the f**k am I doing here? This isn't safe, if my wife sees this she'll kill me". Then I noticed another photographer with a tripod. His coat and pants blended in with the background... stealthy like a chameleon! We looked at each other, two crazy photographers (also one crazy fisherman) in harms way. Then like 2 cats in the arena of death, we ignored each other and took our shots. Photography can be strange!

Very nice, especially the first one. Wonderful tones and especially beautiful shading and shadow on the stone.

Ignoble Miscreant
Not quite Ocean/Sea, River. This is the view of the Columbia off my porch at low tide when we also are having King Tides so that we get really low and really high tides. The Pacific tide is felt all the way upriver to Portland, OR. It is not much of a tide up there but it is noticeable, the river rises and falls. The buoy behind the blue Oregon Responder is slightly tilted downstream meaning the tide is still falling. That black streak in the river is the exposed bottom, the Desdemona Sands. The shipping channel is between the sands and the docks, quite deep and regularly maintained. We see a lot of produce go out to sea from upriver where there are rail terminuses for grain and soy beans from the interior. I could tell when the economy was picking up in 2008. River traffic really picked up after a long slack period.

This is actually a color photograph but because of the haze and light it looks more like a black & white picture.

Incredibly exciting to be there. The wind and the crashing sea, I really felt alive!
For context, on the left side about a 1/4 of the way down there are a couple of fishermen.
