Amazing Street portraits! Are they all taken by prefocused and using the back LCD tilt screen? You should make a photo book!

cboy, your comment is sincerely appreciated, thank you very much.

If my street shots are taken with a 50mm lens or smaller, yes, I'm pre-focused (scale focused, zone focused, range focused... whatever people want to call it these days). However, I never use the LCD screen, I simply rely on my familiarity with the lens to get the shot. It's all very dynamic, the people are moving, I'm moving... everyone is in motion. With a little practice it's not that difficult to compose and nail the shot..

If I'm using a longer lens, then I'm using the viewfinder and autofocus, if my lens has auto focus.

As to a photo book, you may think it's a good idea but I doubt any other RFF members would agree with you... I don't think my close-up people pictures are everyone's cuppa tea. I think most people are a bit uncomfortable looking at my pictures of people.

Anyway, again, thank you for your kind words, they mean a lot to me.

All the best,
Mike

Hi Mike,

I don't know what other members think about your portraits... but I want to tell you I enjoy a lot your portraits in this thread. When I look at them I see people so different from what I see here, so different faces, looks, gestures... it is very interesting for me. It's like being there, in these streets of Yokohama, a place that I would want to go, but surely I will not be able to go in my life, so it's a big pleasure to me come to this thread.

Thank you for sharing your pictures, your thoughts, words...

Thank you, Shab, thank you very much! Your kind words are so eloquent; they are sincerely appreciated.

You are documenting the Yokohama streets very well, Mike. Congratulations. I was once for six weeks with the family in Nagoya. Also a city South of Tokyo.

Raid, thank you for the complement. If you ever get back this way again let me know; we can go on a photo-walk together. I'd love to show you around Yokohama.

All the best,
Mike

Thank you, Mike. If I ever again travel to Japan, I will consider a visit to Yokohama. It seems to be located very close to Tokyo.
