Mike, you are by far the best B&W photographer I've seen in a small eternity.
I fairly die with envy when I look at your monochrome images.
At my age the so-called charms of color have largely fallen by the wayside. B&W is what I started with in the 1960s, and it's likely what I will return to before I shuffle off this mortal coil - I hope later rather than sooner, but one never knows.
My big problem is, Indonesia where I mostly hang out is a wild color sort of place. B&W really doesn't cut It except for street work in the cities, and even then the glare washes out all the mid-tones. Oh well.

Totally agree. I'm always in awe of Mike's B&W photos. He always seems to get the most delicious tones (sorry, Helen, I stole your phrasing here). Some of it is the lenses*, some of it is the lighting but most of it is skill. Amazing skills.
*I still can't get the images out of my Voigtländer 50/1.5 Heliar Classic S.C. to look as good as yours, Mike.

Thank you, DownUnder, thank you very much!
Color (on most days) is a challenge here too! What I do in post is turn down the brightness and add a little shadow. It doesn't always work but it never seems to hurt to try. I'll start posting color pictures where I used these adjustments.
All the best,
Mike

Thank you, Dogman, your comments are sincerely appreciated!
Just so you know, all most all my people pictures that I post here using the Voigtländer 50/1.5 Heliar Classic S.C. are shot at f2.8 at a distance of about 1 meter.
All the best,
Mike
