Lynn, that one was taken on Maho beach in St. Maarten in the Caribbean. A little bit later a KLM 747 came overhead. I actually thought someone would get hurt by the wingtip vortices...

Isn`t that the same space (Maho beach) where the turbine exhaust causes quite some turbulence when a jet starts accelerating on the runway ?

Approaching Maui Hawaii... That may be Oahu at right and Molokai at far left.

Reminds me of an old one: Pilot Bob Newhart to passengers on Grace L Ferguson Airline and Storm Door Co. - "Anyone been to Hawaii before? You sir? I-It's sort of kidney-shaped isn't it?"

Landing approach to Kahului airport, Maui Hawaii, over the new highway from Kihei. Camera is about level; nearly all land here has an uphill side and a downhill side, mauka and makai...

Paul - what were you in when you photographed the Grassi Massif? Spectacular view! Looks like you were flying low and not that far away, even with a short tele.
We were in a 6 passenger helicopter, flying out of Mount Assiniboine Lodge. I was fortunate enough to be nearest the plexiglass window. I pressed the camera's lens hood against the plexi and took the shot. 80mm lens.

Passing a USAF C-5B Galaxy over the Pacific enroute to Honolulu, from the cockpit of my Boeing 767-300ER. They were cruising at .75 Mach, we came by at .79 Mach...
