What else would a Fujifilm camera guy drink?
Question for Dourbalistar - What do you see at the bottom of the bottle?
One of a handful of new Japanese single malts released recently.
Acros stand developed in Adonal, shot with the Carl Zeiss S-Planar 120mm adapted to my Pentax 645n.
Beautifully shot, WJJ3! Looks like you got your hands on something special.
On a somewhat related note, it seems that Japanese whisky makers are finally setting industry standards for what can be considered "real" Japanese whisky:

https://whiskycast.com/japanese-whisky-industry-sets-standards-for-japanese-whisky/
With the new labelling standards, some of my favorites like Nikka Coffey Grain and Whisky from the Barrel (Post #123) don't meet the new criteria of "Japanese Whisky".
Thank you sir! The First from Tsunuki Distillery is a tasty whisky. It will be interesting to watch them develop and refine the character of their single malt.
Thanks for sharing the news of the new standards. Definitely another good step toward getting clarity in the category of Japanese whisky.
BTW, Nikkei news is reporting that Nikka's Coffey Grain meets the new standards 🙂
I'm not surprised From the Barrel doesn't meet the new standards. It's just too delicious and inexpensive to believe Nikka is blending it entirely from domestically produced and aged stocks.
I'm a big fan of Nikka and it's sad to see what their whisky lineup has become...
Ah yes, you are correct about the Coffey Grain, I misread the note on Nikka's website. :bang: Do you know if the Coffey Grain is back in production? Last year, I read news that production was "temporarily suspended". Here in the US, it has been out of stock for at least the past six months or so, if not more.

It's kinda hard to tell if Nikka is shipping it again or if it's still in suspended mode. I haven't seen it on the shelf anywhere for about a year, but it looks like it is available on amazon etc. over here...
BTW, Dourbalistar, pretty cool trichrome color images you are making!
