Thanks, Pitxu. What you see in the second one (the volleyball net sitting in a field of snow) isn't film grain (shot with that magical grainless Kodak 400CN). The weather had suddenly warmed up for a few days, so what you see in that image is fog. It was that kind of days where you say to yourself, "I have to shoot something!".

Honestly, I think your Quercus Pedoncula (Basque Country) tree shots blow the doors off of my images!
 
markE - stunning photographs. The tonality in the second one (volley ball net) is my favorite. The grain, and softness are very appealing- they give it a very lonely, mysterious feel.

What lens/film combo?

a couple from this winter's first real snow. wanted people shots but, duh, they seemed to be indoors ...

I love this! The fire escape and graffiti really add a lot to the image. Not just in balance, but in the juxtaposition they provide between the natural and the man-made. I also like the way the larger branches echo the path of the stairs.
