Waist Level View Finder - F3

I just bought a Nikon DW-3 Waist Level ViewFinder for my F3!

I can't wait to try it out!

Allows you to get some WAY COOL perspectives on things and still be able to see what you're shooting. Very important accessory and very under-rated. Ground level stuff is really ground level, very fun to have. Light weight and most times reasonably priced. IMHO a must have for very F/F2/F3!

I did it for several years with an Exakta, which eventually went belly-up. Still have an Exa which does the same thing, though with not as much class. It takes some getting used to, but does have its advantages.

I have WLF on a F4...I picked up this body at a great price (it was minus the DP-21)
I like working with it...it gets you lower than you normally would shoot...a different POV

another newbie question: can you get metering without the prism? can you use AE?

i have bought an F with a [4 sided] WLF [well, it was the cheapest finder], but it's a little flimsy, and feels like a cheap toy on the solid F. are the WLFs for F2 and F3 better?

On an original F or an F2 you won't get metering with a WLF because the meter is in the Photomic prism (only). But on an F3 upwards you will get metering with a WLF because the meter is in the body.

I have a WLF for my F3, as well as an HP prism. I like the advantage of getting a shot from ground level without lying on the ground, and of capturing unsuspecting subjects who are not accustomed to a WLF. But the disadvantage for my deteriorating eyesight is getting manual focus on such a small image, and seeing the meter settings in the finder. If only I could find a reasonably priced WLF for my F5.

i was wondering whether the F3 could be set at AE and "shot from the hip" using zone focus method without putting on any prism or finder, even the WLF. seems like that might be possible, though glare on the focusing glass might cause problems.
